Welding is a process of joining metals together by melting and fusing them, creating a strong bond between materials. This technique is essential for constructing structures used in manufacturing vehicles and machinery.
Sheet metal fabrication involves shaping and forming thin sheets of metal into desired shapes and structures using cutting and bending.
CNC Machining is a manufacturing process in which pre-programmed computer software dictates the movement of factory tools and machinery such as grinders and lathes to mills and routers. CNC machining enables the production of intricate parts and components from various materials, making it a cornerstone of modern manufacturing.

WHAT WE DO
OUR HISTORY
In 1989, Ron Carlson purchased Chuck’s Machine and Tool and renamed the business to Ron Carlson Machine, Inc. With a background in machining and engineering, Ron saw the huge demand for a machine shop in West Central Minnesota. To increase production, Ron began switching from manual machines to CNC machines in the early 1990s. In 1995, Ron decided to expand the business by constructing a 10,500 square foot building for relocation. This business expansion led to continued and increased success for many years. However, after the economic crash in 2008, Ron had to make the difficult decision to move the business back to the original building.
In December of 2012, Ron Carlson Machine was purchased by Eric Carlson, Ron’s son and the current owner, and became Swift Machine & Fab, LLC. Eric immediately capitalized on the increased demand for machining by adding a small expansion (1200 sq. ft.) to house the welding department. Additionally, Eric has continued to update the CNC machinery to increase speed and accuracy. Recognizing the need to expand with the industry, in 2018, Eric purchased a 50’ x 110’ building that was added to the existing business.
By the end of 2019, this new building would house the Prima Power Platino Linear Laser and the Baykal APHS Press Brake, allowing Swift Machine to offer laser cutting and bending. With the addition of these services, Swift Machine has machining, laser, and welding capabilities on-site which allows our customers to complete a full project all with one vendor. The primary location now has ~11,800 square feet of shop floor in both the Machine Shop and Welding & Fabrication Shop.
